| Job Title: Senior Programmer Department: Clinical Drug Development Location: RTP, NC Reports to: Manager or Director, SAS Programming or VP Biostatistics and Data Management FLSA Status: Exempt Essential Functions The Senior Programmer will be responsible for performing and assisting biostatisticians and other Programmers in the summary of clinical trial data needed for clinical trial reports and/or regulatory submissions as well as the supervision of more junior programmers. In collaboration with Data Coordinators/Clinical Data Managers, they design and review CRF and data validation directives for a clean and accurate database. They program, validate and test programs in support of statistical analysis, while maintaining good programming skills as applied to the data manipulation and statistical analysis for clinical trials. In collaboration with other SAS programmers/biostatisticians, they create derived datasets, display, summarize and analyze data for clinical trials, and QC the results. Specific Duties Include: • Lead programming responsibilities for projects • Review of data management documentation • Creation of Analysis Plan documents • Creating specifications for and programming of CDISC compliant datasets • Lead the programming activities of summary tables, listings, and figures • Provide leadership for project teams • Other duties as assigned Relationships Works Closely With • Data Management • Other SAS Programmers • Clinical Project Managers • Biostatisticians • Client Contacts Qualifications Education • Master’s Degree in Statistics/Biostatistics or comparable field, or • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years experience Minimum Work Experience • 2 years working with clinical trials in industry, or • 3 years working with clinical trials outside of industry (e.g. academia, research centers, etc.) Special Skills • Organized, Detail Oriented, Excellent oral and written communication skills • Must speak fluent English and able to communicate effectively in study teams. • Minimum 3 years experience using SAS. • Solid understanding of macros, SAS/GRAPH, SAS/STAT, and data step programming. • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work on a multi-disciplinary project team • Basic knowledge of clinical data and medical terminology. • Ability to function independently • Able to work with tight deadlines • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities • Ability to plan project time lines and forecast necessary hours needed to complete tasks. | Job Description: OptumInsight is currently recruiting for a full-time SAS Applications Developer to join our Custom ETL Development team in either the Waltham, Massachusetts office or the Hooksett, NH office. Working with a team of SAS programmers, BAs and Analysts, the individual will be responsible for updating and maintaining the ETL that integrates our clients' data into our software products. This includes working on client requested customizations surrounding these products. The SAS Applications Developer will need to work closely with our Operations, Implementation, software development and account management teams. The main analytics tools necessary to perform these tasks include SAS, Ingenix specific product software, healthcare analysis skills. Primary Responsibilities: · Update and maintain the BPO ETL (Extraction, Transformation & Loading) system · Handle custom process change requests from BPO clients · Support production processes in a timely manner · Document new and existing processes as well as changes to them · Write SAS programs that use health insurance claims data, eligibility and various other data types · Create data sets that combine multiple data sets · Perform data cleansing, transformation, aggregation, summarization as needed to support the software products · Investigate data quality issues and research data (business logics, any transformation being done) as needed · Provide accurate and timely estimates for tasks · Provide support and leadership in critical production support issue resolution · Support the team for application availability, reliability and stability on a 7 by 24 by 365 basis · Conduct or facilitate root cause analysis on all in-scope incidents and recommend a corrective action plan · Work with team to achieve timely resolution of all production issues meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements · Conduct code review to ensure the work delivered by the team is of high quality standards · Work with business to prioritize production issue resolution · Work with the Service Manager in process improvement initiatives as directed by the service What makes your technology career greater with UnitedHealth Group?
